Career Talk
1. Nursing : Nursing school is like what? 3 years? After that you scale IELTS and CBT and e go sure for you. All that is needed from you is discipline and average wits. A registered nurse has more hope than a PhD holder in any other profession.
2. Aeronautic engineering : As flying school is very expensive and it takes a while to recover what you have spent learning how to fly, why not learn how to fix the damn aircraft. There's this institution in Kaduna called AFIT (Airforce institute of technology). Their school fees cost small but e no near Covenant own. Like 300k per session or thereabout. Just be disciplined and come out with your second class upper and e go sure for you. You can join the military or work for Air peace. Heck you fit see yourself for our space agency.
3. Maritime waka : Na to hustle the admission for maritime academy be the wahala as competition is stiff. You could go there to learn seamanship, engineering or a logistic course. A bit of regimentality is infused into the training, so you'll suffer a bit. However, sorrows only last for the night and joy cometh in the morning. School fees is cheap. But once you are out, opportunities abound. Getting a job in the maritime sector in Lagos isn't so difficult. And the pay is soft. The downside be say, most of the jobs are on contract basis. Ehen, if you are gallant, you could train in a recognised maritime institution outside the country.
4. Military : With your SSCE certificate, you could join any of the three arms of service as a recruit and work up your career from there. Just be literate and without any handicap. You also need to be fit. After receiving basic military training, you will be launched. But the training sha, no be here. You will feel it.
You could also apply for admission at the NDA. Once you pass out, you become an officer. Unfortunately you could also pass out and not make it. If you know, you know. The training no be here sha. You need to be very resilient both mentally and physically. Training lasts for 5 years after which you could join any of the arms of service as an officer. Good thing with the NDA is that you'll be receiving allowances and you won't pay fees. Your feeding and accommodation will be taken care of. However competition for the admission is stiff and there's a 20 percent chance that you may not pass out.
As a graduate from a civil tertiary institution, you could also join the service through a pathway known as the direct short service commission. Competition no be here for that side. And you'll still train like a bat.
5. Police academy : Sure route to adoption by the govt. Na to just hustle the admission be the wahala. Competition is stiff. But when you come out ehn, ASP sure for you.
6. Radiography : Getting admission shouldn't be difficult if na you use your hand score 260 for Jamb without cheating and na you use your hand pass WAEC without cheating. You could migrate later on if you want or open your own radiology lab here in Nigeria. Or you can just be so super lazy and earn nothing less than 100k per month working for a private radiology lab.
7. Medical Lab science: Similar shid with radiography but I feel Radiography is a teeny weeny bit more rewarding.
8. Accounting : Get your second class upper, clear ICAN, think outside the box and apply for jobs in the big 4 auditing firms. The pay is mad and the work is madder! After working there for like ten years, use your experience and wealth to open your own auditing firm. But I hear say the stress for Deloitte and KPMG no be here sha. Not for those who can't sustain pressure.
