JAMB has disclosed that as of March 5th, 2022, about 708,000 candidates have been registered in the ongoing 2022 UTME/DE registration. This information was contained in the weekly official bulletin of the board.

JAMB also urged e-PIN vendors to monitor the activities of their agents as the Board would not tolerate any fraudulent act. Vendors would be held accountable for any infractions committed by these agents. According to the board, erring centres and ePIN vendors or their agents found wanting would be severely punished to serve as a deterrent to would-be infractors.

JAMB added that the board will continue to monitor the exercise until the end of the registration and examination exercise. Centres are, therefore, urged to play by the rules.

*WHAT IS IJMB?*

IJMB means Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is an Approved, Proven & Certified Advanced level programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University and having coordinating body in various tertiary institutions. 

The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was set up in 1974 under status 5 of the Ahmadu Bello University law to run the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB) as an alternative “A’ level Examination, to students or candidates who may wish to seek undergraduate admission in Ahmadu Bello University and other universities into 200Level.

The board has the responsibility of conducting standard examinations for the candidates, who have been exposed to a minimum of 8-10 months approved courses (Two Semesters).

This is just as the University will be playing host to the 5th International Academic Conference on Taxation tagged “CITN/KWASU 2022" holding from 15th to 18th August, 2022.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN while receiving a delegation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday at the KWASU Business School in Ilorin.

The Professor of Business Law who noted that the KWASU houses a Tax Academy, said the University is ready to start running the career oriented programme.

The Vice Chancellor who reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, stated that the University runs quite a number of professional certificate programmes, to equip students with relevant skills for future career advancement and opportunities.

The Legal bigwig, however, reinstated readiness of the University to host the CITN conference and pledged support to the institute, just as he expressed optimism that the existing collaboration between the two institutions would be strengthened for mutual benefits.

Earlier in his welcome address the Director of the Institute for Professional and Continuous Education (IPCE), KWASU, Professor Mubaraq Sanni emphasized commitment of the University at promoting professionalism through collaboration with professional bodies.

He commended CITN for its collaborative efforts with educational institutions and forging partnership with KWASU towards breeding professionals and advancement of the tax system in Nigeria.

The Director therefore solicited CITN partnership in the areas of research, community development, entrepreneurship and exchange of human resources.

In his response leader of the delegation, Prof. Godwin Oyedokun, lauded KWASU for being an ambassador of CITN, adding that the objectives of the institute is well integrated in the University.

He assured KWASU of the Institute's support in its quest for excellence in academics and research among others.

The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has rescheduled its meeting to tomorrow Sunday in Abuja to decide the next line of action as its four-week warning strike comes to an end on Monday.

Speaking in a chat with Sunday Vanguard News, the National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said it is the NEC that would decide what next to do.

“I cannot say this is what we are going to do next. It is the NEC that is going to decide that and we are having our NEC meeting on Sunday. We are an organised union and the majority opinion carries the day. Whatever the meeting decides will be communicated to all, thank you,” he said.

However, it was gathered that the meeting will hold in Abuja, unlike the previous one that took place in Lagos.

The popular *Sola Saraki Library Complex, Kuntu area, Agbo -Oba* of Ilorin West Local Government has caught the attention of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Officials of the board led by Acting Director of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Kwara State Chapter, Mrs. Shittu and Mr. Yomi, the Technical officer of the board and other officers assessed the edifice today. They urged the Council to hasten the completion of the project so as to meet up with this year's examination of the board.

The edifice was said to meet the specifications of JAMB and it is expected to be completed soon. Ilorin West Chairman, Hon. Omotosho Abdulgafar accompanied by DPM, Supervisory Councilor for Works, Supervisory Councilor for Education, the , H.O.D for Works and other managements, commended the board for their fantastic achievements recorded recently. He however promise the board of council's swiftness towards the completion of the project as advised.

Upon completion, the CBT Centre shall be serving 550 candidates at a go.

No extension date for UTME, DE registration ― JAMB warns candidates.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Thursday, warned that there would be no extension of registration for 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, candidates.

Fabian Benjamin, spokesman for JAMB, while giving the warning in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, advised all prospective candidates in the ongoing 2022 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Registration exercises to make sure they complete their registrations before March 26, 2022, adding that there will be no extension of date.

He said the only window allotted by relevant authorities to the board to conduct the exercise is between 19th February, to 26th March, 2022, only.

He noted that, it was practically impossible for the board to even contemplate any extension of registration as sister examination bodies such as West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), have their allotted time which the board could not usurp.

He added that before the commencement of registration or examination for any given year, all public examination bodies are invited to a roundtable where they are expected to agree on the timetable of activities for each examination agency and which must be strictly adhered to.

He noted that registration and examination dates are usually not fixed arbitrarily but through a consensus of opinions of the Federal Ministry of Education and examination agencies.

He said the announcement was necessary because of the drop in the number of candidates coming forward to register in spite of the capacity of the Board to register more daily.

“By this announcement, the board is urging prospective candidates who desire to register for the 2022/23 UTME/DE to come out to register as they have only two weeks to do so as no extension would be granted after the close of registration,” he said.

New Provost of FCE Obudu, Dr Richard Utubaku, assumed Duty

PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS DR. UTUBAKU AS PROVOST FCE OBUDU

President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) has approved the appointment of Dr. Richard Ugbaha Utubaku as the new Provost of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, for a first term of four years, as conveyed by the Honourable Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu.

The appointment is consequent upon competitive interview conducted for eighteen (18) applicants for the position among the thirty-five (35) that applied for the job in November, 2021.

The Chairman Governing Council of the College Prof. Taoheed Adedoja on behalf of Council members has congratulated the new provost and looks forward to his visionary leadership of the College that was established since 1982.

The Chairman had earlier sent similar congratulations to the new Bursar of the College Mr. Joseph Eba Ogar.

The newly appointed Provost Dr. Richard Utubaku began his educational career in Roman Catholic Mission(RCM) Primary School Bebuabie, Obudu where he obtained the First School Leaving Certificate(FSLC) in 1979. Thereafter he was at Comprehensive Secondary School, Obudu between 1979 and 1985 where he passed the WAEC Examination in flying colours. 

He was at the Federal College of Education, Obudu where he was certified a teacher with the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1990 and then proceeded to the University of Calabar where he obtained a 2nd Class Upper Degree in Education Mathematics in 1992. As a true Nigerian, he served his NYSC at the Government Secondary School Wushishi in Niger State where he was the Corp Liason Officer.

Dr. Utubaku returned to his Alma Mater, the University of Calabar for an M.Ed in Mathematics Education. At the University of Agriculture, Makurdi he crowned his Academic pursuit with a Ph.D in Mathematics Education in 2015.

In 1993, the young Richard Utubaku got his first appointment as an Assistant Lecturer in the Mathematics Department of Federal College of Education, Obudu where he rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Lecturer in 2013, having served variously as HOD, Dean, Director and Chairman of several Committees.

Dr. Richard Utubaku has to his credit several Conference papers, Journal articles Books and Book Chapters and has some textbooks to his credit.

Dr. Richard Ugbaha Utubaku is the 1st Alumnus to become a Provost in almost 40 years of the College’s existence and hopes to reposition the College in line with its vision of enhancing academic and professional excellence in teacher education for Sustainable National Development.

Dr. Utubaku is happily married and blessed with five (5) children.

TODAY, the new Provost of FCE Obudu, Dr Richard Utubaku, assumed duty and was given a rousing welcome by staff of the college. Leaders of the four staff unions in the college took their turns to express solidarity with the Provost and gratitude to God for actualising the desire of the entire college community for an internal helmsman.     Dr Utubaku's appointment is historic in several ways. 

(1). He is the first alumnus of the college to be so appointed.

The one-month warning strike embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), may last longer than expected as the federal government has now revealed that it doesn't have funds to meet some of the union's demands.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, March 3, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige said the N1.3 trillion revitalization fund ASUU is clamoring for was a promise made to the union by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan when the country’s finances were stable, and they were able to pay only N200 billion borrowed from the coffers of TETFUND.

He explained that the current administration never promised to pay ASUU the remaining N1.1 trillion, and had told the union it cannot honor an agreement it wasn't part of but promised to find a way to fund universities and revitalize infrastructure.

Ngige further revealed that the government was willing to renegotiate and has reconstituted a renegotiation team on the 2009 agreement. However, the union has vowed not to involve itself in any round of renegotiation saying it had since rounded off negotiations with the government concerning its demands.

The deadline for payment of OOU admission acceptance fee is March 10, 2022.

This is to inform all the candidates offered provisional admission into the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, various Undergraduate programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session that the management has announced the procedure and amount to be paid as admission acceptance fee.

OOU Acceptance Fee Payment Procedure

Successful applicants are to pay a non-refundable fee of Sixty Thousand Naira (₦ 60,000.00) only with immediate effect through any of the under-listed means to process their acceptance letter.

Payment through any of the University Point of Sales (POS) on any of the University campuses (Ayetoro, Ibogun, Remo (Shagamu/Ikenne) and Main Campus at Ago-Iwoye). Payment through the Internet by logging on to www.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng.

All Candidates offered Provisional Admission should proceed with the steps listed below:

Click on CHECK ADMISSION STATUS to confirm your admission.

Provide your JAMB Number and SURNAME as the password to log on to the admission portal

On successful log on, click MAKE ACCEPTANCE PAYMENT.

Once the acceptance payment profile has been loaded, click on either.

MAKE WEB PAYMENT – This allows you to pay online directly using your ATM card,

OR

MAKE POS PAYMENT – Print the ACCEPTANCE PAYMENT PROFILE and proceed to designated POS Points to make the payment.

UNIOSUN RELEASES 2021/2022 SUPPLEMENTARY II UTME ADMISSION LIST

The supplementary UTME list of 2021/2022 Admission exercise into various degree programmes have been released. Prospective candidates who participated in the Admission screening exercise can check their admission status via the Undergraduate Admissions portal.

All admitted candidates are hereby directed to pay the sum of forty thousand naira (N40, 000.00) only as Acceptance Fees for the Provisional Admission offered.

Payment of the Acceptance Fees is by the UNIOSUN WebPAY platform through the use of Interswitch enabled Debit/ATM cards (Verve, Visa and Master cards). The deadline for the payment of Acceptance Fees is February 4, 2022.

Any candidate who fails to complete the Acceptance and other necessary registration on the portal on or before the deadline will FORFEIT the Provisional Admission offered.
